Press, 1995. Written by yours truly for the medical device industry, but should be of
interest for any EMI discipline. Practical nuts and bolts treatment for designers and
installers of medical electronics equipment. ISBN 0780311604 or 0935184805. EDN's Designer's Guide to
Electromagnetic Compatibility, Daryl D Gerke and William D Kimmel,
formerly printed by Cahners
Publications, 2001, we now have the printing rights. Written by yours truly as a basic EMC design guide, it is available
from our web site - follow the link on
our front page. Controlling Radiated Emissions
by Design, Michel Mardiguian, Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1992. Informative and fairly
easy to read. ISBN0442009496. Digital design for
Interference Specifications, David Terrell and Kenneth Keenan, The Keenan
Corporation, 1997. Circuit board approach for
interference control. Electrostatic Discharge,
Michel Mardiguian, Interference Control Technologies, Inc, 1986. Good treatment on ESD
design. Recommended for a first book. ISBN 09322632275. Electrostatic Discharge and
Electronic Equipment, Warren Boxleitner, IEEE Press, 1989. Very good treatment of
ESD, very simply written. Recommended for a first book. ISBN 087942240. "EMI Troubleshooting
Techniques," Michel Mardiguian, McGraw Hill, 2000. Aimed at the person faced with
solving an existing EMI problem, in the field or test floor. Includes fix-it techniques and components and
instruments needed. The only book we know of that has this focus. ISBN 0071344187. EMC for Product
Designers, Tim Williams, Butterworth-Heinemann Ltd, 1992. This is part of the EDN
series for design engineers. An introduction to EMC with a strong European regulation
viewpoint. Easy reading, quite basic. ISBN 0750624663. Introduction to
Electromagnetic Compatibility, Clayton Paul, John Wiley & Sons, 1992. Written as
a college text, it is quite analytical but very readable. ISBN 0471549274. Noise Reduction Techniques in
Electronic Systems, Henry W. Ott, John Wiley & Sons, 1988. Good, quite readable.
General overview, strongest in analog electronics. Recommended for a first book. ISBN
0471850683. Troubleshooting Analog
Circuits, Robert Pease, Butterworth Heinemann, 1991. Not specifically
written for EMI, but has lots of information related to EMI. We like it for
its unique viewpoint on troubleshooting, whether for analog or digital. ISBN 0750694998. SYSTEMS BOOKS
Grounding and Shielding
Techniques in Instrumentation, Ralph Morrison, John Wiley & Sons, 1986. A must
for instrumentation applications where low level analog signals are involved. A little bit
hard to read. ISBN 0471838066 (next edition due out in 1998, ISBN 0471245186). INDUSTRY STANDARDS '"IEEE Recommended Practice for Powering and Grounding
Sensitive Electronic Equipment," IEEE Standard 1100-1992, AKA "Emerald
Book." One of the "Color Books" sponsored by the IEEE Power Engineering
Society. Emphasis on "power quality" for electronic systems. Strongly
recommended if you are doing systems. ISBN 1559372311. IEEE C62.41, "IEEE Guide for
Surge Voltages in Low Voltage Power AC Power Circuits," IEEE, New York, NY, 1980 NFPA 70 - National Electrical Code 1999 Edition, National Fire Protection Association, 1 Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA 02269. The "Bible" on electrical wiring practices. PERIODICALSKGB Newsletter, Kimmel
